TRANSFORMING PLACES.
A comprehensive video series created to prepare contractors for work across Kingston’s Green Wedge, while communicating the long-term vision for transforming former landfill sites into valuable community spaces. The project combined site induction and training content, community interviews, aerial footage and detailed motion graphics to make a complex redevelopment clear and accessible.
THE CHALLENGE
A COMPLEX SITE.
A LOT TO COMMUNICATE.
Kingston’s Green Wedge redevelopment involved detailed site logistics, contractor requirements and a much bigger story about the future of the area. The content needed to educate contractors clearly while also helping the community understand the value of transforming former landfill sites into usable green spaces.
DETAILED INFORMATION.
EASY TO FOLLOW.
The induction and training videos needed to communicate important information about site access, safety and logistics. The challenge was presenting that detail clearly without overwhelming the contractors who needed to understand it.
LARGE SITES.
LIMITED PERSPECTIVE.
The scale and layout of the sites could not be understood through ground-level footage alone. Aerial coverage was essential for showing how each area connected and giving contractors a practical overview before arriving on site.
CONTROLLED AIRSPACE.
CAREFULLY MANAGED.
Drone filming took place within a permit zone, adding another layer of planning to the production. The required approvals, flight planning and safety considerations needed to be managed before aerial filming could take place.
The final series needed to turn technical site information into practical guidance, while connecting the work happening today with the long-term benefit for Kingston’s community.

With detailed site logistics, safety requirements and future redevelopment plans to communicate, the production needed to make a large amount of information easy to follow. We combined considered filming, aerial perspectives and motion graphics to give contractors and community members a clear understanding of the sites and what was planned for them.

We structured the induction and training content around the information contractors needed most, including site access, logistics, safety requirements and working conditions. This created a clear flow that made detailed information easier to understand and retain.

Extensive on-site footage gave viewers a practical visual understanding of each location. Wide views, ground-level details and operational footage helped contractors become familiar with the environment before arriving on site.

Drone footage was essential for communicating the scale, layout and relationship between different areas of the sites. As filming took place within a permit zone, we also facilitated the required approvals and flight planning to capture the aerial content safely and compliantly.

Motion graphic overlays, labels and visual callouts were layered throughout the videos to reinforce key information and identify important site features. Community interviews added a human perspective, showing what the transformation of former landfill sites into new green spaces could mean for the people of Kingston.
