Behind the Scenes: Filming Help at Hand’s First Aid Course

Rite Takes Episode 08

Our team spent two full days shooting an online course for Help at Hand, a wonderful business dedicated to teaching parents life-saving first aid skills for babies and toddlers.

The focus of the shoot was a series of talking-to-camera modules. Megan, the founder of Help at Hand, had written a detailed script for each video, which we loaded into our teleprompter.

Throughout the shoot, we worked closely with Megan to adjust wording, simplify phrases, and make sure everything sounded conversational and authentic as she was reading it as anyone who’s ever filmed knows what reads well on paper doesn’t always translate naturally on camera.

The goal wasn’t just clarity, it was making sure her warmth, expertise, and personality came through in every line.

Why We Had a Two-Person Crew

Filming two days straight of talking-to-camera content is no small task. To make the process smooth, supportive, and efficient, we had two team members on set:

  • One operating the camera and managing all technical aspects

  • One following along the script, making real-time adjustments, checking for missed points, and keeping an eye on body language, delivery, and overall continuity.

Having that second set of eyes and ears is invaluable, especially for long-form educational content where accuracy and consistency really matter.

Capturing the Details

Alongside the main teaching modules, we also filmed close-ups of first aid props, tools, and training dummies. And if you were wondering… no, capturing CPR demonstrations on a dummy is not the most aesthetic shot but sometimes the most important things aren’t the prettiest, but they’re absolutely essential.

At the end of the two days, we walked away with a full suite of clear, engaging and genuinely empowering content that will help parents feel more confident in emergency situations. We’re so grateful Megan trusted us to bring such an important project to life, and we can’t wait to see the impact her course makes for families everywhere.
